It was a sunny, bright afternoon when people had finished their jobs, took care of some goats and cows, to celebrate Iedul Adha. Five committees from Legato looked tired, yet it couldn’t hide their satisfied feeling knowing that Legato, finally, had contributed in Qurban event held by Universitas Negeri Malang. The person in charge of Legato Berqurban, Niken, said the Qurban done in parking area of A3 Building was going well. She didn’t expect they could cooperate closely with the main committees since it was their first experience to do Qurban.
“I thought it would be a little bit awkward, since the committees were lecturers, students, and staffs, too. Yet, it was fun. They were professionals“, said Niken. She also said Qurban for this year was different than before because Legato could immediately contribute to this annual event. Previously, they only cooperate with HMJ FMIPA. After some consideration, Legato decided to make immediate-cooperation with LP3 UM, main handlers of the event.
“Many people thought that Legato would buy some goats, and do Qurban. Actually, it wasn’t like that. We sold some stickers to friends, seniors, juniors, and lecturers to collect money. It was two thousand rupiahs for each sticker, or you could buy with higher price, then we gave it to LP3 UM. Not only selling stickers, we were also doing a publication by making posters and patching them on several information boards in the Faculty of Letter’s buildings, so it could help people who wants to give their money for Qurban easily. We also got funding from the faculty, and it helped us to increase the fund”, Niken explained.
However, Niken added that she hoped Legato would buy some goats or cows for Qurban someday. “I know it will need much money, but I hope it could happen. I heard from my friend that some area around her house didn’t get meats. If Legato could do Qurban, it would help some area like that to get meats. Starting now, we have to collect money little by little.”
