About Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature (B.A. in ELL)

Scientific Vision

The vision of the Sarjana (B.A) Program in English Language and Literature is to contribute to the development of scientific advancements in the field with nuanced perspectives anticipative of global developments in the discipline by the year of 2041.

 

Missions

  1. To conduct innovative student-centered bachelor’s courses in the field of English language and literature;
  2. To facilitate research in English language and literature with nuanced perspectives, the findings of which contribute to the development of science and community welfare; and
  3. To carry out community services in the area of English language and literature for the purpose of community empowerment.

 

Objectives

  1. To produce graduates who possess moral integrity and academic capacity in the fields of English language and literature;
  2. To empower the study program’s civitas academica who innovatively produce creative and scientific works in the field of English language and literature; and
  3. To institute innovative and empowering community services in the field of English language and literature for the promotion of civil society.

 

Graduate Profile

  1. Proficient users having good command of English language for effective spoken and written communication in academic and non-academic contexts as indicated by proficiency scores at minimum independent users or B2 CEFR (ITP TOEFL score of 525/Ibt TOEFL 69-70/IELTS 5.5);
  2. Graduates capable of independent life-long learning and conducting, inter alia, research in the field of English Language and Literature, translating and interpreting English texts into Bahasa Indonesia texts and/or vice versa, employing higher analytical skills as language consultants, producing a variety of writing genres publishable in a variety of media, or pursuing graduate and professional studies.

 

Intended Learning Outcomes

  1. Demonstrating humanistic, tolerant, and broad-minded attitudes and behaviors in line with the spirit of Pancasila, as well as independent, innovative, adaptive, and collaborative work ethics and ethos;
  2. Creating activities for improved wellbeing on the basis of entrepreneurial potentials in the field of language and arts;
  3. Using English for effective spoken and written communication in academic and non-academic contexts as indicated by proficiency at minimum B2 CEFR (ITP TOEFL score of 525/iBT TOEFL 69-70/IELTS 5.5);
  4. Implementing the knowledge and understanding of language and literature in translating and interpreting English texts into Bahasa Indonesia texts or vice versa;
  5. Applying theoretical concepts of English language and literature to conduct principled research using technology and multimodal formats;
  6. Employing higher order thinking skills as language consultants and professionals in order to provide feedback for any targeted markets;
  7. Managing higher order thinking skills in relation to the use of the English language for diverse academic and professional purposes; and
  8. Creating a variety of writing genres publishable in a variety of media.
